How I practise

What to expect

Explained, not just prescribed

You should leave a consultation understanding what is happening and why something is being recommended - not just holding a prescription.

The least invasive that works

Where a minimally invasive approach gives an equivalent outcome, it is the better one - smaller incisions, shorter stays, faster recovery.

Thorough, whatever the setting

Experience from tertiary teaching hospitals to rural mission care means the same careful, resourceful attention to every patient.

Journal

Notes on women's health

Occasional writing on pregnancy, gynaecological health, and what to expect from common procedures.

Pregnancy

What "high-risk pregnancy" actually means

The label sounds alarming. Here is what it does - and does not - tell you about your pregnancy.

Gynaecology

Fibroids and ovarian cysts, explained

When they need treatment, when they can be watched, and what the options really involve.

Fertility

When to seek help with conceiving

Timelines, first investigations, and the questions worth asking at a first consultation.

About

A broad grounding in women's healthcare

Dr. S. Abinaya completed her MBBS at Coimbatore Medical College, Tamil Nadu, and her postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (DGO) at Christian Medical College, Vellore - one of India's foremost teaching hospitals.

Her postgraduate years at CMC Vellore centred on a 60-bedded labour room and high-volume outpatient care, with rotations through gynaecologic oncology, reproductive medicine, neonatology and anaesthesiology. She went on to serve as a Senior Resident in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at SRM Medical College, Trichy, running independent labour-room duties and emergency surgery. Alongside this she has worked in rural mission hospitals, managing patients well in low-resource settings.

Her interests are comprehensive obstetric care, high-risk pregnancy, and minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. She is committed to evidence-based, compassionate, patient-centred care.
