What "high-risk pregnancy" actually means
The label sounds alarming. Here is what it does - and does not - tell you about your pregnancy.
Obstetrics & Gynaecology
From antenatal and high-risk pregnancy care through to gynaecological surgery and fertility support - grounded in tertiary-hospital training and a listening consultation.
Areas of care
Training across a tertiary teaching hospital, a busy medical college, and rural mission hospitals has shaped a practice that is broad, thorough, and comfortable with the unexpected.
Care through pregnancy and delivery, with close attention to pregnancies that need extra watching.
Assessment and treatment across the range of women's reproductive-health concerns.
Surgical care using minimally invasive techniques where they are the right choice, plus fertility assessment.
Procedures
Obstetric and gynaecological procedures, using minimally invasive techniques wherever it is clinically appropriate.
How I practise
You should leave a consultation understanding what is happening and why something is being recommended - not just holding a prescription.
Where a minimally invasive approach gives an equivalent outcome, it is the better one - smaller incisions, shorter stays, faster recovery.
Experience from tertiary teaching hospitals to rural mission care means the same careful, resourceful attention to every patient.
Journal
Occasional writing on pregnancy, gynaecological health, and what to expect from common procedures.

When they need treatment, when they can be watched, and what the options really involve.
Timelines, first investigations, and the questions worth asking at a first consultation.
